Aesthetic Rhinoplasty Surgery
The nose is the most prominent feature of the face and can easily detract from your other facial features if it is not in harmony. Cosmetic nose surgery, or rhinoplasty, is designed to improve the nasal-facial proportions by altering the size and shape of your nose. Coined a “nose job” by pop culture, a rhinoplasty can refine your overall facial appearance by:
- Removing bumps or indentions in the nasal bridge
- Restructure the nasal bridge to correct asymmetry (crooked appearance)
- Refining the shape, position or size of the nasal tip
- Narrow the span of the nostrils
- Reduce the overall size of the nose
Why Choose Dr. Nick Slenkovich for Your Rhinoplasty?
Forget about the “one size fits all” approach. Denver plastic surgeon Dr. Slenkovich believes that each patient’s face, as well as the reason they are considering a rhinoplasty, is unique and requires a personalized approach to address their concerns and provide the best possible outcome. During your rhinoplasty consultation, Dr. Slenkovich will consider multiple aspects of your nose while examining it, including symmetry, rotation of the tip, skin thickness, projection from the face, balance, size ratio, and breathing function. These aspects are taken into account with your unique goals to customize the procedure to ensure your new nose has a natural, un-operated appearance while achieving facial harmony.
As a board certified plastic surgeon and otolaryngologist (ear, nose, and throat surgeon), Dr. Slenkovich has the ability to balance aesthetics with nasal function to create an overall attractive appearance while maintaining or improve breathing. This experience is also the reason many patients come to Dr. Slenkovich to correct the results of a previous rhinoplasty with a revision rhinoplasty procedure.
As a result of his personalized approach and experience, cosmetic nose surgery is one of the most common cosmetic surgery procedures performed by Dr. Slenovich.
How Is a Rhinoplasty Performed?
Nose reshaping surgery is done as an outpatient procedure that typically lasts three to four hours and is usually done under general anesthesia. Dr. Slenkovich uses both open and closed techniques depending on the goals for the surgery. During a closed rhinoplasty all incision are made inside the nose, while an open rhinoplasty includes an additional, discrete incision across the tissue between the nostrils (columella).
What Is Recovery Like?
Initial discomfort following your nose surgery is easily controlled with oral medication. A nasal splint is worn for the first week. Most patients feel comfortable returning to work and appearing in public after the splint is removed. Most of the remaining swelling and bruising subsides progressively over two to four weeks. The semifinal result of a nose reshaping procedure is evident in three months. The final result is evident in 6-to-12 months.
Insurance & Rhinoplasty
If there is a nasal deformity resulting from a recent injury or if your ability to breath through your nose is significantly impaired, insurance coverage may be available to cover the functional portion of the procedure (septoplasty). If, however, the nose surgery is being done for cosmetic reasons alone (a rhinoplasty), then the procedure is rarely covered by insurance. At this time we are not accepting new insurance patients.
