Neck Lift
What Does a Neck Lift Do?
A neck lift is intended to produce a more youthful neck with a better contour.
Are You a Candidate for a Neck Lift?
If you have localized deposits of fat in the anterior part of your neck (under the chin or loose skin around the neck)or if you have muscle laxity under your chin, you may be a candidate for a neck lift.
How Is the Neck Lift Procedure Performed?
The operation is usually done on an outpatient basis under sedation and local or general anesthesia. It requires an incision under the skin. Fat is then suctioned or excised, muscles are tightened, and a small amount of skin may be removed. You will go home with your chin and neck wrapped in dressings or in an elastic neck sling.
What Is Recovery Like After a Neck Lift Procedure?
Initial discomfort is easily controlled with oral medication. Swelling and bruising disappear in about two weeks. The final result is visible in one to three months. Depending on other procedures performed in conjunction with a neck lift, you can often return to light-duty work in one to two weeks.
