Recovery and Aftercare
Most patients can return home on the same day as the procedure. You may experience swelling, bruising, and tenderness in both the donor and injection sites. These side effects typically subside within one to two weeks. You may be required to wear compression garments to help reduce swelling and promote proper healing of the donor areas where liposuction was performed. Depending on the extent of the procedure, most patients can return to light activities within one week. To allow for optimal healing, strenuous activities, exercise, and heavy lifting should be avoided for three to six weeks.
While some of the transferred fat may be reabsorbed by the body, the fat that successfully establishes a blood supply will provide long-lasting results. Final results typically become visible within three to six months and can last for years with a stable weight and healthy lifestyle. Dr. Slenkovich and the team at Colorado Plastic Surgery Center will schedule follow-up appointments to monitor your healing progress and ensure you are satisfied with your results.
