Juvederm & Restylane – Hyaluronic Acid Fillers
I got juvederm to my lips a week ago. I almost regretted my decision right after, but now, a week later... I love it!! Very subtle, and natural looking. Love the results!! - Leah
Although hyaluronic acid sounds scary, it is a completely safe and natural substance that naturally occurs in our bodies. In general, this “next generation” category of injectable facial filler goes deeper and lasts longer than the older style collagen injections, and is effective for deeper lines and larger areas.
What Does Juvederm & Restylane Do?
Ideal for nasolabial folds (the creases from the nose to the mouth), and useful for shaping the nose where there are divots or where minor surgical correction is needed, these fillers are also popular for the hollow area under the eye (medically known as the tear trough) as well as for the jaw line and other facial areas where the skin’s volume and fullness has been lost. Juvederm and Restylane also work well for deep wrinkles, folds, creases and lines and for plumping up the lips. View before and after photos of patients who have received filler injections.
Who Is Injectable Fillers For?
Any man or woman with deep lines, creases or decreased volume in small areas of the face or those wanting extra volume in the lips is a candidate for for the injectable fillers Restylane and Juvederm.
What’s the Difference Between Juvederm and Restylane and When Do You Use Which?
Juvederm is a more recent formulation and can last as long as 9-12 months. Restylane is another version of a hyaluronic acid filler, with results that typically last from 6-9 months and produced by a different manufacturer. For new patients, we recommend Juvederm because it is considered “next generation” and lasts longer. For any patient who has had success with Restylane and wants to continue to use this product because of their comfort level with it, then we simply use Restylane.
How Long Does the Filler Last?
Restylane typically lasts 6-9 months and Juvederm can last as long as 9-12 months.
Advantages of Juvederm & Restylane
In addition to working quite well on facial lines, folds and wrinkles, a nice feature of both Restylane and Juvederm is that if there is every any problem or reaction, both products can be instantly melted away with a simple in injection. We have never seen a problem in our practice, but it’s very comforting for patients to know that the material can be instantly dissolved. This feature is unique to the hyaluronic acid fillers.
