Natrelle 410 Anatomical Silicone Gel Breast Implant
In February 2013, the FDA approved the next generation of silicone gel breast implants, the Natrelle 410. This new form of silicone gel implant provides an additional option for breast augmentation patients in Denver, Colorado who desire fuller, more natural breast contours.
What is the Natrelle 410 implant?
The Natrelle 410 is the newest advancement in breast implant options and arguably the most advanced breast implant technology available today. The Natrelle 410 is a highly cohesive, form stable silicone gel breast implant making it firmer than the previous silicone gel breast implants. Unlike the round shape of the existing silicone gel implants, the Natrelle 410 implant has an anatomical, or teardrop, shape. The anatomical shape has a fuller volume at the base of the implant and less volume in the upper portion of the implant.
Because of the shape of this new silicone gel implant, the Natrelle 410 requires the use of a form stable, more cohesive type of silicone gel than the existing round silicone gel implants. This form stable silicone gel ensures that the implant maintains its anatomical shape overtime, as well as when the breast augmentation patient is in a position other than standing, such as laying down. In addition, the external casing of the Natrelle 410 implant is textured (verses the smooth casing of the round silicone and saline implants) to prevent the implant from rotating within the breast after being placed in the body.
The Natrelle 410 is available in different profile projections to allow for sizing options, as well as two different height options. Both of these options provide additional sizing options for breast augmentation patients. During your consultation, Dr. Nick Slenkovich may recommend a specific height option based on your desired results and the existing position of your breasts.
Is the Natrelle 410 Silicone implant safe?
Yes. The new silicone gel implant has undergone seven years of clinical trials and has received FDA approval. During these clinical trials, the Natrelle 410 implant showed a significantly lower rate of capsular contracture than saline and silicone gel implants. In addition, it is manufactured by Allergan, an extremely reputable breast implant manufacturer and the choice provider of silicone gel and saline implants at Colorado Plastic Surgery Center.
The Natrelle 410 is a cohesive silicone gel breast implant, and as such the FDA recommendations for MRI screenings for possible ruptures are the same for patients with the Natrelle 410 implants as with the round silicone gel implants. The FDA recommends women with any type of silicone breast implant undergo an MRI screening at three years and every other year thereafter to detect a rupture or leak in the implant casing. Dr. Slenkovich follows the ASAPS MRI screening recommendations and advises patients to obtain a MRI screening every five years. If a patient suspects an issue with a silicone implant, it is advisable to obtain an MRI screening prior to these recommendations.
Am I a candidate for a breast augmentation with the Natrelle 410 implant?
Not every woman will be a candidate for the new Natrelle 410 breast implants. Women who are candidates for the new anatomical silicone breast implant typically include the following characteristics:
- Thinner or leaner in body composition,
- Have little existing breast tissue,
- Have minimal sagging (ptosis) to the breasts,
- Have a tighter skin condition,
- Have a thinner skin consistency,
- Desires a moderate size increase (of approximately 1 1/2 to 2 cup sizes) and a natural shape with less upper breast fullness.
During a comprehensive breast augmentation consultation, Dr. Slenkovich will utilize 3D breast augmentation simulation technology to demonstrate possible results you would obtain from a Natrelle 410 silicone implant, as well as the round silicone gel or saline breast implants. Through this firsthand look at the potential results that would be achieved from a breast augmentation, you can feel more confident in your choice of breast implant.
